Kid History

Today at work Laura and Jessica introduced me to Kid History and boy am I so glad they did.  There are six videos so far and each video is based on an actual event from these brothers childhoods.  But the story is told by their children, yet reenacted by the actual brothers.  Oh my Hannah, these are so hilarious.  This is probably my favorite one.  Enjoy!

Do you feel it?

Do you feel it?

The build up of excitement, the hum of stadium lights, the locker room prayers, the stomping of feet, clapping of hands, roars of fans...

FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE!

Oh this is my favorite time of year!  And football is my favorite all time sport.  I'm so excited for it all!!  This last Saturday, I got to cheer on two awesome people.  First off, Mr. D, Dan the Man, Lightning Dan...played a great game of flag football.  He captured two flags and ran in an extra point.  I was such a proud mama.  Go Green Hornets!

Then it was a quick wardrobe change and we were off to Logan to watch Uncle Naki play against Weber.  Woo, talk about a great game.  Uncle Naki is out with a small injury, but the team did great and we were so excited to go and show our support!  USU 54 vs Weber 17, Go AGGIES!!!

Bradley Cooper Speaks French

Someone give this man a white horse and send him to my door please!  The only word I understood in this clip was 'George Clooney' and yet, I could have watched an hours worth.  :)

Johnny Cash Project

I hadn't heard about this, until my friend Tim sent this video.  Amazing!!  Artists from all over the world were asked to sketch a frame.  These frames would be pieced together and become a music video, to honor Johnny Cash.  The song was for "Ain't No Grave".  The video shares the story behind the project and then a minute and a half into the video, you can watch the completed project.  I am really inspired by the art work all of those individuals gave.

Treat Yourself To Something Sweet

I recently started another blog...I KNOW!  Another blog!  I'm nuts!  No, I just LOVE blogging.  The blog is called the Live My Life Project!  It started as something simple, a chance for Daniel and I to record and challenge ourselves to live every day of this summer to the fullest.  It was a chance for me to find my focus again and strive to be a better person, a better Mom and a better employee.  I feel like my focus has been so stretched between work, school and my family that I got lost.  (Read about our Purpose here.)  The blog then turned into a way to learn from the people around me, how do they live their lives to the fullest?  So each day comes with a challenge!  There will be mini-interviews, giveaways, motivating thoughts and inspiring stories.

Yesterday's challenge was to Find God in an aspect of your day.  It was a lovely day!  Today's challenge was to Treat Yourself!  Daniel and I decided we would go somewhere we had never been before...Yogurtland in Orem.  YUM!  It's a lot like Farr's Ice Cream, almost exactly like Farr's.  It was a fun atmosphere and the desserts were delish!  Plus if you work for IHC, you get a 10% discount...holla!

We had such a fun night!  We enjoyed every bite of our ice cream, talked about our day, laughed at the lady sitting near us with the CRAZY laugh and vowed to do more nights like this throughout the summer.  Swing by the blog, tell us what you think, follow us and share with us ways you have chosen to Live Your Life to the Fullest!!!!

Oh...I've also been introduced to Pinterest!  Ahhh, I love it!  If you are on there...find me!

Ok Go

Really...this band has some of the most creative videos!  As we waited for everyone to gather for our 7 am meeting this morning, my boss played this video:

So CREATIVE!!!  AHH!!  I can't stand it.  Then it reminded me of this one:

Oh and then this one was a GREAT one:

Then there was the treadmill video and the wallpaper video and well, you get the picture...these guys are fabulously creative!

Dear Ok Go,

Can we be in your next music video?

Sincerely,

Your Fan Ela

Internet Shopping

Class was canceled this morning and Daniel had already left with Grandpa to a funeral (poor guy) so I put my pj's back on, jumped back in to bed and began browsing everyone's blogs.  This however, turned into a morning filled with online purchases.  Although, I must say I'm excited about what I've purchased.  The great thing about ordering online is the anticipation factor.  Every day you head to the mailbox hoping that today is the day and when if finally arrives...what a treat!!  Let me tell you what I got...not to brag...but to share my fun finds and good deals!!

I love pearls and I do not have a single one...how does this happen?  Well, I put an end to that when I bought this lovely necklace from Vintage Pearl.  I just got the one charm with Daniel's Initial, plus the pearl.  :)  I'm considering this a Mother's Day gift to myself.

Then I stopped over at familyfun.go.com to see if they had any fun ideas for me...Ari is sleeping over tonight and I wanted to help them have fun as well as wear them out before bed!  While there I noticed that a subscription for a year was only $10!  So I subscribed to that!

I then started to browse for items that I could put in Daniel's Easter Basket.  See, I learned something a while ago, Daniel doesn't really care for candy.  Right now the kid has two large bowls of candy on his toy chest but he doesn't care to eat it.  That doesn't mean that he doesn't like treats...some days he LOVES them.  Anyways, back to the basket...I don't do a lot of candy.  One chocolate bunny, three or four eggs filled with money and candy and then a book and a movie.  Well, I found the book and the movie on Amazon this morning at KILLER prices!!!

 On Amazon for $13.99!

 On Amazon for only $9.99!

A nice quiet morning in bed cost more than it should've, but now I have a week of fun anticipation ahead of me!!!

The Story

Did you watch Grey's Anatomy Thursday night?  I watched it last night, so I'm a little behind.  But what a fabulous episode.  I won't spoil anything for you, but I will tell you that I have had permanent goosebumps since watching Callie sing The Story by Brandi Carlile.  What an amazing song first off and then what an amazing performance.  I first heard the song at a Bridal Fair with Allison, it was playing in the background of a wedding video.  I loved it, right away.  So here is the music video of Brandi Carlile singing it, then the lyrics, then the video of Callie singing a portion of it.  If you don't want the episode to be spoiled, don't watch Callie's version yet.

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true...I was made for you
I climbed across the mountain tops
Swam all across the ocean blue
I crossed all the lines and I broke all the rules
But baby I broke them all for you
Because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
You do
I was made for you
You see the smile that's on my mouth
It's hiding the words that don't come out
And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed
They don't know my head is a mess
No, they don't know who I really am
And they don't know what
I've been through like you do
And I was made for you...
All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true...I was made for you!

Some Fun Stuff

I thought it was time for a post of fun stuff I've found lately.  So here you go...enjoy!
  • I still can't get enough of Adele's new CD titled 21, please listen to it and tell me what you think!!  Even better though, you can head over to David Letterman's, Live on Letterman and watch Adele LIVE!!  It was fantastic and I've watched the whole thing twice now!  Click HERE.
  • I love ice cream, all kinds of ice cream!  But my favorite ice cream is Baskin Robbins "Nutty Coconut" and Daniel loves the "Chocolate Brownie".  YUM!

  • Naomi and Josh posted the most beautiful pics of the signs of Spring on Capitol Hill, they are so lovely!  Oh and congratulations to them, they recently had the most adorable baby girl, Eleanor.
  • I got a new pair of jeans from Nordy's!  KUT from the Kloth Jeans.  They weren't that expensive and they are a GREAT fit!  I highly suggest them.  Although, please do not go to kut.com!!!  It is kutfromthekloth.com.  YIKES!!!  My eyes were seriously assaulted.  I need to go and wash that image out of my brain!!!!

I "heart" Adele's 21

It's sometimes hard for me to list off a favorite artist.  There are so many different songs, albums and artists that I enjoy to listen to.  But if you were to ask me, which female artist is my favorite, I'd have to go with Adele.  Her first album 19 became an anthem album for me.  Songs like Chasing Pavements, Cold Shoulder and her remake of Make You Feel My Love touched a chord within my heart.  I loved the album right from the start.

Adele is now coming out with her sophomore album 21 and it is amazing!  I found a link to listen to the entire album a little early, it won't be released until February 22nd.  Click here though if you would like to listen to the album.  She is coming to Salt Lake in May, tickets are only $25 and I am going!  The songs are full of emotion, deep love, regret and a passion that mesmerizes from the first moment you hear it.  Songs like; He Won't Go, Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You, and Set Fire to the Rain are some of my new favorites.  She is a refreshing breath of air in an industry that seems intent on spitting out one Disney pop princess after another.

Here is the video to Rolling in the Deep, enjoy!

Sundance 2011: The Ledge

After the ASCAP Music Cafe, Melanie and I headed down to the Rose Wagner Theater in Salt Lake City for "The Ledge" starring Terrance Howard, Liv Tyler and Christopher Gorham.  The film is about a detective that finds out that his two kids are not really his, after discovering that he's sterile.  This detective is called out to talk a jumper off a ledge, shortly after getting the news.  The character development in this film is phenomenal, you really get to know the characters and are able to see such vulnerability in each person.

It was moving, again, I was crying.  Such a fantastic film and the Q & A afterwards with the films writer/director was also moving.  I can't believe what a bawl baby I was.  But this film is actually coming out in theaters this year, so keep an eye out for "The Ledge."  Here are some pics from a Q & A with the actors and director, compliments of Wire Image.

Such amazing performances!!!

Window Shopping

Confession:  My name is Ela and I am a shop-a-holic!

When we were little my Mom used to take us Window Shopping.  We weren't allowed to go in the stores, we were only allowed to look at the items in the window display.  Which actually made for some lovely days out in the city.

Oh man, the window displays in the stores in New York.  They were always so lovely, inventive and mesmerizing.  Here are some from the 2010 holiday season.  (Next year, Daniel and I will post our favorites from our trip to NYC.)

Pictures taken by NYClovesNYC.

Sometimes, I like to imagine that I have $10,000 for shopping.  What stores would I go to, what items would I buy, who would I buy for?  Oh, it's so fun.  Here are some fun things I've found.  :)

These conversion prints for kitchens, made and sold by Sweet Fine Day on Etsy.

I would buy this bedding set from Pottery Barn Kids for Daniel's new room!!!

Blinkenstaff's

What a fun night!  Daniel and I met up with Mileah and her husband Todd for dinner at Tucanos.  They are such a CUTE couple!  Thanks guys for hanging out with us!  Before we met up with them though, we stopped at Blinkenstaff's for some toys and treats!!  What a fun store!  If you haven't been, your missing out...really!

I didn't know what a lot of these candies were.  Do you guys recognize any of these?  Any recommendations?

This clock was so lovely!

Here's another view of it!

Look at all of the stuff in his hand!  Saying no in a store like this, isn't the easiest.

Apples and Skins

I made a HUGE purchase this weekend.  Partly because I needed something for school and partly because I really wanted to add to my Apple collection.  That's right, I bought the Apple Macbook Pro.  WOO!  What an exciting moment it was to be handed this adorable little box, too small to have a computer...yet when I opened it, there it was...my new obsession.  That's right...she (of course it's a girl) is amazing.  I love typing on her sleek keyboard, browsing the internet, watching hulu.com and downloading songs to this lovely little thing.  It's too fun!  I even like shopping for her!  Haha, I found this adorable Etsy shop called Bertie's Closet and I bought this adorable skin / case for my new computer:

There are a ton of cute designs, fabrics and sizes to pick from .  I heart elephants and got this case in yellow.  Anyways, check them out.  So cute!  Isn't shopping so much fun!

Music: Rocketeer

So our new musical obsession is Rocketeer from the Far East Movement featuring Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic.  Daniel loves the rap bits and I of course LOVE the hook.  Daniel has really been in to rap music lately.  I'll have something playing in the car, like the other day a Rihanna song was playing and he asked if I could change the channel.  Of course, I was willing to change it.  We went through eight channels before he settled on T-Pain.  Nothing against T-Pain, in fact I loved his last album (the pre-prison album), but it wasn't only on this one occasion.  I just find it interesting that the little guy is digging the lyrical beats of rap music.  Anyways, enjoy our new favorite song!  Oh and look forward to some picks from Daniel's new adventure with Hip Hop Class!  Woo woo!
