Kindergarten Music Fest

This last Wednesday, Daniel performed with his Kindergarten class; in the annual Music Fest.
The theme of the program was,
"We CAN Make a Difference"
He did a WONDERFUL job!

I also got to be the Parent / Teacher Aide in his class that morning.  It was so great, I loved going to school with Daniel.  His teacher is Mrs. Tingey and she is AWESOME!  You can tell that she loves her job and LOVES these kids.  I got to say the Pledge of Allegiance, help with Centers (learning stations that include; journal writing, art projects, number games, etc.), and I got a big hug from Daniel at the end.  It was the best; I signed myself up for another day next month.

I've been playing with my photoshop lately.  If you couldn't tell!
I'm glad Daniel lets me take so many pictures of him.

HAHA!

First *almost* Spring Walk

The poor little guy got sick at school today and had to come home early.  After a bowl of soup, a nap, books, and a movie the cabin fever began to set in.  He was dying to go outside and thank goodness it was such a lovely day!  I wish/hope it lasts and that the longest season this year sees, is Spring!  I hope all of you here in Utah got to enjoy the beautiful day too!

Fishing w/ Grandpa

My Dad is an amazing fisherman.  Some of my fondest memories as a child consist of us kids playing at piers, wharfs, lakes, rivers, and creeks while Dad fished.  So it's exciting to now see Daniel creating those same memories with Grandpa!  Here are a couple of pictures from their ice fishing adventure to Deer Creek in Provo Canyon.

He did not want to stick his hand in the gill of the fish.  :)

Here is Ari appreciating Daniel's catch of the day!

The Rational Soul

From the meditations of Marcus Aurelius. He is thinking about what he calls the rational soul, listing

“Affection for its neighbors. Truthfulness. Humility. Human beings were made to help each other. Nothing is good except what leads to fairness, and self control and courage and free will. And nothing bad except what does the opposite. We are not to go expecting Plato’s Republic, but to work in a principled way, with diligence, energy and patience. If you can embrace this work without fear or expectation, if you can find fulfillment in what you are doing now, as Nature intended, and in superhuman truthfulness (every word, every utterance) –then your life will be happy.”

Linda, thank you for sharing this beautiful thought with me!  Also, a shout out to the amazing Clark Little!  Your work inspires me!

I'm curious!

So you might say that I've been toying with the idea of getting back into the dating scene.  *gasp*  Yes, as crazy as it sounds!  I know what you're thinking, I don't have time to think about men!  That's why I say I'm just toying with the idea.

Anyways, I'm getting up there in years, I have obligations, and more importantly I live in Utah County.  Which lets face it, as much as I love this fine state of mine, can be cruel to woman over a certain age.  So I've been thinking toying resigning myself to the idea of signing up for an online dating website.  AAAAHHHH!

Ugh, I scream with fear because the online world can be cruel.  See, in the cyber world of dating there is an added rejection factor.  A man, can spend days emailing you with questions that lead you to believe that he may just be the kind of person who would like you for who you are.  THEN, they see a picture and BAM, they've fallen off the face of the planet leaving no trace of the person you'd spent days getting to know.  After a few failed attempts at cyber dating and my bruised ego/soul healed, I'm actually considering it again.

What do you all think?  Do you believe in finding love on the internet?  Do you think that love will happen when its meant to happen?  Do you know of another fine way to meet upstanding men?  Please share, I could use your opinions!

Grove Market and Deli

My adorable friend Megan wrote this fabulous review for the Grove Market and Deli!

"From the outside looking in, Grove Market and Deli looks like your typical mom and pop corner store. Well, unless it’s lunch time that is…

Once noon rolls around, anyone who’s in the mood to chow down on a sandwich made from their childhood dreams lines up at Grove’s. Why? Because Grove’s doesn’t think twice about stacking the meat high and using a full loaf (yes, a full loaf) of French bread to placate the fat kid within all of us.

I recommend the turkey avocado with all the fixins. I describe it to newbies as “a good kick in the mouth,” meaning if kicks in the mouth were good, you’d want one from Grove’s. The deli meat is fresh, the avocados make more than just an appearance, and the pickles! Ohh the pickles; they snap like nobody’s business."

To read the rest and to get more information about the deli, go to http://www.reviewcrew.org/2010/02/grove-market-and-deli/

10 things that make me terribly HAPPY!

  1. Sleeping in on a rainy, Sunday morning.  Mmmm....
  2. The laugh that Daniel has when something really funny catches him off guard.  He throws his head back, claps his hands once, and lets loose this contagious laugh from his gut.
  3. Chats with friends that last into the wee hours of the morning.  The ones that make you laugh, cry, and then laugh again!
  4. An immaculately clean and organized bedroom.  (So why can't I keep it that way?)
  5. Scarves, earrings and bags!!  Oh my!
  6. The lovely moments when my dad opens up and shares something beautiful, profound, and honest.
  7. Those rare moments when I belt out a song and I'm actually on key; I might even go so far to say that I sound pretty good!
  8. Rootbeer floats!
  9. A Utah State Aggie Touchdown!
  10. Gathering around a yummy meal with my brothers and sisters; while we share hilarious survival stories from our childhood.
I got this lovely idea from the Rockstar Diaries.  Picture by me.  :)

Empire State of Mind

New York!  It really is one of the most exciting cities in the entire world.  GRANTED, I haven't been to all the cities in the world.  But there is something about New York that touches your soul!  It brings life to dreams, aspirations, and beauty!  No other city has inspired me like New York did!  I hope to one day go back!  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE New York City.

I also adore this version of Empire State of Mind with Alicia Keys!  I first saw it on SNL and then found this link, I hope you enjoy!

Questions Answered on LOST

Okay, so after three hours of LOST last night I was; thrilled that the new and last season has begun, slightly disappointed in the additional questions that emerged, and excited to finally get some answers to a few haunting questions!!! I won't tell you what the answer is, but I will tell you what questions we got answers to!

"What is the black smoke and jungle monster?"
"Why was there ash around Jacob's house?"
"What was in the guitar case that Hugo brought back to the island?"
"What happened to the survivors in the 70's when the bomb went off?"
"How does Miles talk to dead people?" (sort of)

Other than that, there were like 100 new questions. How are they ever going to answer all the questions by May 13th?

Can I just say, it was so lovely to see Boone, Charlie and Claire again!!
