Grudges

The topic of grudges came up more than once today. A comment was made about a coworker, "She never holds grudges, she says what she needs to say and then lets it go." I couldn't help but think, "WOW! Why can't I do the same thing?"

I'm quick to ask for forgiveness when I know I've done something wrong. However, when someone has done wrong towards me, I hold on to that forgiveness with a tight fist. Daring that person to try and make it right, knowing that I won't forgive them. I think of the countless friendships I gave up on because of something silly; a mouse, a misunderstanding, an unkind word, gossip, an unfulfilled promise, etc. The really silly thing is me; I'm silly for not realizing that the person who is the most affected by this stubbornness is myself. It's exhausting, trying to remember all the reasons why I don't like someone. When I know, deep down inside, if I just thought it through it wouldn't be such a big deal. Oh, to become the person who says what they need to say and then lets it go!

It's never too late to change, I believe in that! I've written stories about it; I know it to be true. So, I've challenged myself to let it go! Just let it go! Forget the wrong that you think may have been done to you and let it go. Am I the only one that finds this to be easier said than done?

On a much lighter note, the new photography theme for this weekend is in!!!
"METAL"

Interpret it in any way you would like.  You have the weekend, then post your images to your blog, facebook, twitter, etc.  Post a comment with a link to your photo on Monday!  I hope you all have the loveliest of weekends!

I really appreciate this post, Ela. It's inspiring! I love seeing the maturity and wisdom you've gained since becoming a mother and how you are actively exercising the weaker parts of yourself.

You are great. :)

Just wanted you to know that.
