SELF

I was reading the SELF magazine during my lunch break and couldn't help following the excercise, "Love your life in 9 minutes." It said to create inspirations, not ultimatums. The excercise was to create a list to follow this sentence, "I'm proud of . . ." name your accomplishments for 2008. The next list will follow, "I won't criticize . . ." this is a way to counteract your self critic and keep you on course towards accomplishing your goals. The last list follows, "I can't wait to . . ." this is your pledge for 2009. Anyways here are my lists and I'm tagging Fia, Lua, Makenzie, Adrian, Megs, CaraDee and Laura to do the same thing! YAY!!

I’m proud of . . .

• Becoming a mother to Daniel. My life has changed dramatically and though I have more worries and responsibilities, he makes everything sweeter.
• My accomplishments at work. I can’t believe I get to do the job I do and that I’ve been able to work my way up the ladder in such a short amount of time.
• My testimony in the Lord. Though I struggle, I’m proud to report that my faith in Him has not altered. I know He lives and that He loves us.
• Sione and Lorien who tied the knot in 2008. It was quite the adventure and I’m thankful to be a part of it. Welcome to the family Lorien!
• Lua and Justin who had my first niece, Arianna. She is a doll and has the cutest laugh, EVER!!! I love you guys!!
• Tevita and Makenzie who had my second niece, Vea Marie. What a beautiful baby and what amazingly devoted parents.
• My family for recognizing the cracks in the wall and resolving to fix them. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for their love and sacrifice. Though 2008 brought some family stress and drama, there were a LOT of GREAT, BEAUTIFUL and HILARIOUS moments as well. I can’t help but be proud of the road we’ve traveled and the lessons we’ve learned.
• My trials and tribulations. They have taught me to be strong, understanding and empathetic. I refuse to be sorry for the choices I’ve made. Everything in my life has happened for a reason and the lessons I’ve learned will follow me throughout my life.

I won’t criticize my . . .

• My parenting skills. There is no way I can know how to handle every situation.
• My weight. It’s not permanent.
• My family. They are my rock and I must always look for the good.
• My intentions. As long as they are for good and not evil!
• Vegging habits. If I’m getting the rest I need, then why make myself feel bad.

I can’t wait to . . .

• Get out of debt!!! What an unnecessary burden!!
• Build a home for Daniel and me. It will take some strength and sacrifice, but will be worth it.
• Be a better mom. To devote more one on one time with the little guy, no less than 12 hugs a day!
• Be a better daughter. To see my parents needs before they do and help in anyway I can.
• Be a better sister. I’m resolved to keep the promises I’ve made to each of you!
• Be a better friend. Whether by; email, phone or girls nights.
• Feel beautiful everyday. To take a moment for myself before stepping out the door each morning.
• Be the best supervisor. I have the best staff and they deserve the best from me!
